Situated in the South China Sea about
32 km off the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia, the
Kuantan Wreck is an 80m Japanese oil cargo vessel
sunk in the mid 1990's.
The
wreck lies on its port side, with the hull about 12
m deep from the surface. The deepest part of the wreck
is located at around 24m on a sandy bottom. Encounters
are common with wreck residents giant stingrays, a
2m bizarre-looking shovel-nosed ray, shy leopard sharks,
blacktip sharks, nurse sharks, moray eels and barracudas.
There are also large schools of friendly batfish and
trevallys.
The liveaboard will also bring you
to either Berhala Wreck (Japanese WWII Frigate), Tokong
Burung or Seri Buat. These dive sites are hours off
Tioman Island and are inaccessible from resort-based
diving operations.
